Manganese Phosphate

Phosphates

Manganese phosphate coatings are known for having the highest hardness, superior corrosion protection, and maximum wear resistances of general phosphate coatings. It is extensively used to improve the sliding properties of ferrous surfaces. The use of manganese phosphate coatings for improved corrosion resistance can be found in virtually all branches of the metal working-industry.

Because of its superior wear protection properties, manganese phosphate coatings are widely used in industry. They can be found in the oil and gas industry, aerospace industry, on gears and bearings, marine equipment, in engines, on firearms, fasteners of all types, and much more.

Manganese phosphatizing is one of the more costly metal pretreatment that is routinely used, as well as one of the most effective. Its finish is black to dark grey in color, very smooth to the touch, and typically represents the desired finish. Components that have been manganese phosphatized may also be immersed in a lubricant bath and allowed to dry to further corrosion resistance and wear protection.

Crest offers both a traditional manganese phosphate and a hybrid zinc-manganese phosphate. Both of the Crest manganese phosphate products produce superior finish results when used according to the recommended application practices and routinely get consistent coating weights of 3500 to 5000 mg/psf.
